Cam Newton Values His MVP Award Over a Super Bowl Ring

Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton reflects on his career, emphasizing the significance of his MVP award compared to winning a Super Bowl.

Cam Newton, the quarterback who guided the Carolina Panthers to a stellar 15-1 record during the 2015 season, reflected on his career achievements. He famously achieved a personal milestone by winning the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, becoming just the second Black quarterback to do so.

When asked if he would trade his MVP for a Super Bowl ring, Newton replied emphatically, “No.” He believes that leaving a legacy and having a profound impact on the league outweighs mere championships. “What’s more important, impact or championships?” he stated, referencing both historical and personal accomplishments in the league.

He acknowledged that despite never securing a Lombardi Trophy, his individual accolades including three Pro Bowl selections and Offensive Player of the Year made his career fulfilling. His focus remains clear: he values personal success and the difference he made over simply winning titles.
