Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham expressed his dissatisfaction with Minnesota United following a 4-1 defeat on Saturday, accusing them of being disrespectful with their pre- and post-game comments.
Minnesota currently stands second in the MLS Western Conference, while Miami is fourth in the East. The game featured goals from Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Anthony Markanich, Robin Lod, and an own goal by Marcelo Weigandt for Minnesota, whereas Lionel Messi scored Miami’s lone goal in the second half.
Beckham reacted to two of Minnesota’s Instagram posts, one of which referenced their points lead over Miami with the caption “Pinky Phony Club,” a nod to the song Pink Pony Club by Chappell Roan.

Beckham was not happy, urging Minnesota to “show a little respect” and “be elegant in triumph.” He also criticized another post showcasing a banner saying “History over hype” and “culture over cash” held by supporters at the game, highlighting the history of soccer in Minnesota, referencing both the Minnesota Kicks and Minnesota United.
In response, Beckham commented, “respect over everything.”
Looking ahead, Inter Miami will face the San Jose Earthquakes next, while Minnesota will take on the Houston Dynamo on the same day.
