Draymond Green Fined $50,000 for Criticizing Officials' Integrity
Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green has been penalized for questioning the integrity of referees during a playoff game, leading to a hefty fine.
The Golden State Warriors’ standout, Draymond Green, has been penalized with a $50,000 fine for making an inappropriate comment directed at the referees during Game 3 of their second-round playoff matchup against Minnesota. The league disclosed the fine on Wednesday, indicating Green’s remarks during the Warriors’ loss of 102-97 raised questions about “the integrity of game officials.” Green had referenced the game’s point spread of 5.5, according to reports from ESPN.
Green currently holds a league record with five technical fouls this postseason, with the potential for a one-game suspension looming should his total reach seven. He has also been assessed two flagrant fouls. In the past, Green faced a suspension during the 2016 NBA Finals due to accumulating too many flagrant fouls and was also sidelined for one game in 2023 for stepping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis, a player from Sacramento.
As recorded by SportRadar, Green has amassed a total of 202 technical fouls throughout his career, facing disciplinary actions multiple times. Last season, he was absent for 16 games after receiving a suspension for an incident involving Jusuf Nurkic. In total, Green has incurred $992,000 in fines over his career, with $185,000 directed towards disciplinary measures against officials and an additional $3.2 million due to suspensions.
