Nuggets Surge in Second Half to Overcome Thunder, Preparing for Game 7
The Denver Nuggets rallied to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder, clinching a Game 7 with a standout performance led by Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic.
In a crucial playoff game, Jamal Murray battled illness to score 25 points, leading the Denver Nuggets to a 119-107 victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder, setting up a decisive Game 7 in Oklahoma City.
Struggling with illness since Wednesday, Murray was questionable to play but ignited the Nuggets with an early four-point play and a pivotal step-back 3-pointer that pushed Denver’s lead into double digits.
Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic shone with 29 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists. Christian Braun also made significant contributions with a career playoff-high 23 points, and second-year guard Julian Strawther pitched in effectively with 15 points, all in the second half.
Strawther’s significant scoring run included a pair of 3-pointers and a layup during a third-quarter 10-0 spurt that allowed the Nuggets to establish their lead.
Game 7 is scheduled for Sunday, with the Minnesota Timberwolves waiting for the winner after eliminating Golden State in five games.
Despite the win, the Nuggets may face issues as Aaron Gordon was seen limping with a left hamstring injury late in the match.
For the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 32 points but lacked sufficient support to secure Oklahoma City’s first trip to the Western Conference Finals since 2016, when they fell to the Warriors in the playoffs.
Chet Holmgren added 19 points, while All-Star Jalen Williams struggled, scoring only six points on 3-of-16 shooting.
Although the Thunder took a halftime lead thanks to a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Lu Dort, the Nuggets rallied back, closing out the first half with a 12-0 run to seize control of the game.
