LeBron James Offers Support to Caitlin Clark Ahead of Fever's Season Opener Against the Sky
In a heartfelt message, LeBron James encourages WNBA player Caitlin Clark as she begins her sophomore season with the Indiana Fever.
Caitlin Clark, guard for the Indiana Fever, kicked off her second WNBA season on Saturday and received encouragement from LeBron James via Instagram.
“Good luck and DO YOU per usual this season!!!” the four-time NBA champion wrote.
James shared the post, which featured three photos of himself and Clark, just as the Fever began their 2025 campaign with a home game against the Chicago Sky.
While this gesture was supportive, it isn’t the first time James has publicly backed Clark. Last year, he compared the pressure she faced during her rookie season to what he encountered early in his career, as well as what his son, Bronny James, faced ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft.
“Caitlin Clark is the reason why a lot of great things are gonna happen for the WNBA,” James stated on a podcast episode titled Mind The Game. “But for her individually, I don’t think she should get involved in anything that’s being said, just go have fun, enjoy. I’m rooting for Caitlin because I’ve been in that seat before, I’ve walked that road before… I’m glad that Caitlin has a great head on her shoulders."
Clark began her professional career as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, following a historic college career where she became the all-time leading scorer in Division I. In her rookie season, she led the Fever back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
After securing Rookie of the Year honors and establishing a single-season assists record, she is anticipated to continue her momentum into her second season and is considered a leading MVP candidate.
