The 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club featured 74 golfers making it through to the weekend, thanks to good scoring conditions and light winds in Charlotte. These players are now vying for the 32-pound Wanamaker Trophy, accompanied by significant expectations.
In addition to the glory of lifting the trophy and achieving major champion status, players are competing for a slice of the record $19 million purse made available by the PGA of America. This amount represents an increase of $500,000 over the previous year and $1.5 million from 2023, indicating the PGA of America’s ongoing commitment to invest in its marquee event.
The champion of the 2025 PGA will receive $3.42 million, with second and third place earning over $1 million each. All top 32 players will earn at least six figures, and anyone who made the cut is guaranteed a payout of $23,420. Last year, Xander Schauffele won $3.3 million at Valhalla.
The PGA Championship’s prize pool has nearly doubled within the past decade; back in 2014, the total prize amount was close to $10 million. Today’s champion will take home almost a third of that amount for finishing at the top of the field by Sunday evening.
