Antonio Brown Assaulted Outside Miami Boxing Event, Detained by Police

Former NFL star Antonio Brown gives his side after being allegedly attacked and briefly detained by police following gunfire at a boxing match.

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown reported that he was briefly detained by police following a nightclub incident after a celebrity boxing match in Miami. A video showed an altercation involving Brown, with gunshots just outside the event.

In a social media post, Brown, 36, stated he was “jumped by multiple individuals” attempting to rob him of his jewelry. He noted that the police “temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me.” Brown asserted he was not arrested that night and returned home.

Brown’s social media post includes this statement:

“Regarding the boxing event that happened last night, I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me. Contrary to some video circulating, police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED.”

Brown added that he intends to “talk to my legal counsel and attorneys about pressing charges against the individuals who assaulted me” and will provide updates on the process to his followers.

In response to the incident, Miami Police were notified around 3 a.m. ET after a gunshot detection system, ShotSpotter, picked up the sounds of gunfire. Authorities questioned several individuals but no arrests were made, and no injuries were reported. This boxing event was organized by popular streamer Adin Ross.

Brown last played in the NFL in 2021, having built a reputation as one of the league’s most prolific receivers during his stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, before facing controversies that marked the latter part of his career.
