Boogie Fland's Visit to Florida: Gators Emerge as Top Contender for Former Arkansas Star
Boogie Fland, a transfer basketball player from Arkansas, is visiting Florida, which appears to be the leading contender for his commitment.
Former Arkansas star Boogie Fland is currently on an official visit to Florida, and the reigning national champions are “widely perceived to be the leader” to land the former highly touted recruit, reported 247Sports’ Adam Finkelstein.
Fland recently withdrew from the 2025 NBA Draft after an up-and-down first season at Arkansas under coach John Calipari. He was the former No. 22 overall recruit in the 2024 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports and is the top-ranked combo guard available in the 247Sports Transfer Portal Rankings with a five-star grade.
Fland is the fifth-highest-ranked uncommitted transfer behind Memphis PJ Haggerty, St. John’s RJ Luis Jr., Texas Tech Darrion Williams, and Florida State Jamir Watkins.
If Fland chooses Florida, he would fill a crucial gap in the backcourt. The Gators recently acquired prized Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee this off-season, who is expected to take the place of former All-American guard Walter Clayton Jr in the starting lineup.
Florida’s center Rueben Chinyelu has announced he will withdraw from the NBA Draft to return to aid the team’s title defense effort.
Fland had previously missed over two months due to a thumb injury sustained during SEC play but was medically cleared to return for the NCAA Tournament. His thumb was injured against Florida on January 11, leading to surgery after only playing a couple of games.
Prior to the injury, Fland was projected as a possible top-10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, averaging 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 21 games.
