The 2026 FIFA World Cup is approaching, with various nations already earning their spots in this global sports showcase. Here’s the updated list of countries that have qualified for the upcoming tournament, set to kick off on June 11, 2026.

Qualified Teams:

Team Qualification Details:

  • USA: Automatically qualified as a co-host nation. Previously hosted in 1994.
  • Mexico: Automatically qualified as a co-host nation, with previous hosting in 1970 and 1986.
  • Canada: Co-host nation. This will be their first hosting.
  • Japan: Qualified by topping their group in the AFC third round.
  • New Zealand: Secured victory in the OFC qualifying final.
  • Iran: Led their AFC group to qualify.
  • Argentina: Qualified as the leaders in the CONMEBOL standings.

Changes in Number of Teams:

For the first time in history, a total of 48 teams will be participating in the World Cup, increased from the former limit of 32 teams.
