Tottenham Hotspur to Face Manchester United in Europa League Final

Both teams seek a crucial victory at the San Mames in Bilbao, with Tottenham aiming for their first European title since 1984.

Tottenham will meet Manchester United in the final match of the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League edition. This represents the last chance for both English teams to secure a spot in the Champions League, which they will fight for on Wednesday at the San Mames in Bilbao. This match will be aired live on Paramount+.

Spurs are seeking their first European trophy since 1984 and haven’t celebrated a title since winning the League Cup in 2008. In contrast, United aims to repeat their success from 2017. The match also comes as both teams contend with injuries, highlighted by the concern voiced by managers Ange Postecoglou and Ruben Amorim.

Postecoglou remarked, “It is a great prize. You know the significance of Champions League qualification and what comes with it. You get to play against the best on the continent. But the club has been in the Champions League before; they have not won a trophy for a long time, so that is the most important thing.”

Son, who was recovering from injury, started last week and is considered crucial for the team’s morale. “He is so important to the group. He is such an important figure at this football club. It would be great to cap his career off with a trophy for him.”

In terms of player availability, Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall has been ruled out, while Pape Matar Sarr is fit, having overcome a back issue. Midfielder James Maddison is also unavailable, alongside several ineligible players including Antonin Kinsky, Fraser Forster, Timo Werner and former United fullback Sergio Reguilon. Furthermore, Dejan Kulusevski joined the injury list and will miss the final.

Moreover, Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim expressed surprise at seeing Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee recover in time for the final, saying, _“So they recover quite well. They push, of course, and we have to respect the feeling of the player, but we push a little bit, as they wanted to be part of the team. That is a very good sign. Very good for us.
