The Florida Panthers displayed an overwhelming performance, decisively defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 5-0 in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, giving them a 2-0 lead in the series.
From the opening whistle, the Panthers proved dominant, staving off the Hurricanes’ efforts, particularly in defense. Panther’s goalie Sergei Bobrovsky achieved his third shutout this postseason.
Gustav Forsling opened the scoring just over a minute into the game with a pass from Matthew Tkachuk, marking a franchise record with the 13th goal by a defenseman in these playoffs.
As the game progressed, the Panthers maintained their strong defensive strategy, limiting the Hurricanes to just 17 shots. Sam Bennett and Tkachuk each contributed goals as the Panthers raced to a 4-0 lead. A late power-play goal by Aleksander Barkov sealed the scoreline.
However, not all news was positive for the Panthers; forward Sam Reinhart exited the game after an awkward hit from Sebastian Aho.
