Lakers Explore New Center Options After Trade Talks
The Lakers are targeting potential center replacements following a failed trade acquisition in a quest to bolster their lineup around Luka Dončić.
After the Lakers traded Anthony Davis to the Mavericks for Luka Dončić, the entire NBA world knew they would need to fill the center spot. They attempted to do this by trading for Mark Williams, but the deal fell through after he failed a physical.
This left them struggling throughout the postseason, especially against a dominant Timberwolves team in the first round.
Shifting focus to the offseason, the Lakers aim to acquire a defensive center who can synergize well with both Dončić and LeBron James.
Recently, it was revealed that they also inquired about Onyeka Okongwu of the Atlanta Hawks. Okongwu is noted for his athleticism and defensive capabilities, similar to Williams.
The Lakers are considering various players for potential trades, including:
- Jarrett Allen from Cleveland Cavaliers
- Jakob Poeltl from Toronto Raptors
- Nic Claxton from Brooklyn Nets
- Jonathan Isaac from Orlando Magic
With more changes expected as they try to reshape their roster, it will be interesting to see how their plans unfold.
