Green Bay Packers’ first-round draft pick Matthew Golden has made his way into the Green Bay community as he prepares for his rookie season. Golden, a former player from Texas, aptly describes Green Bay as “a special place to be” as he eagerly anticipates his debut in the NFL.
Golden’s journey involves various community engagements, from attending charity softball games to bonding with fellow rookie Savion Williams on fishing trips. As he approaches the start of organized team activities before the offseason program kicks off on May 27, he reflects on the warm welcome he’s received from the locals.
In his own words, “We went up to the flea market, and the people were just welcoming, excited to have us here. You can definitely tell the energy that Green Bay has. It’s truly a special place to be.”
The Packers fans celebrated when the team picked Golden as their first wide receiver draft selection in over two decades. Following a series of challenging seasons without a prominent receiver, Golden aims to change that narrative. He nearly achieved a remarkable 1,000 yards in his last college season, finishing with 987 yards.
As the stakes rise and competition intensifies, Golden is ready to showcase his talent, stating, “I’m ready to put my best foot forward and go out there and play ball.” Throughout his college career, he demonstrated consistent growth, which he hopes to replicate in the NFL.
