The 2025 French Open has officially started, with the tournament draw now revealed. Fans are keen to see which players will emerge victorious at Roland-Garros this year.
Men’s Highlights
Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz is seeded No. 2 and kicked off his campaign by defeating Giulio Zeppieri in straight sets, taking the match 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. His opponent in last year’s final, Alexander Zverev, is now the No. 3 seed.
Jannik Sinner, the top seed, aims to secure his first French Open win after making it to the semifinals last year, where he was defeated by Alcaraz. In a recent clash in Italy, Alcaraz triumphed against Sinner.
Novak Djokovic, seeded sixth and a three-time previous champion, is set to face Mackenzie McDonald in his opening round match.
Women’s Highlights
On the women’s side, No. 5 seed Iga Swiatek is on the pursuit of her fourth consecutive title. Having claimed the title three times in a row, a fourth would set a new record. Nonetheless, Swiatek has not yet won a tournament in 2025 and holds a 27-9 record this season.
Challenging her for the title will be top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka, who reached the quarterfinals last year but faced health challenges that impacted her performance. Coco Gauff, the second seed, is yet to clinch a singles title at this event despite reaching the final in 2022.
The tournament is set to run until June 8, with the men’s final scheduled for one day after the women’s final.
