Celtics Could Reshape Roster: Jaylen Brown Among Trade Candidates
The Boston Celtics are contemplating significant roster changes, with Jaylen Brown potentially on the trading block along with other players this summer.
The Boston Celtics were anticipated to compete for an NBA championship this season, but they faced elimination by the New York Knicks in the second round. As the Celtics look to rebuild after falling short of title aspirations, significant roster changes are on the table this offseason, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
“They’re going to make trades. The Boston Celtics will have a much different roster next season,” Charania stated on The Pat McAfee Show.
Charania noted that while Jayson Tatum will not be traded, the franchise is open to relocating many of its other players, specifically citing Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, and Kristaps Porzingis depending on trade offers.
Brown stands out as the most valuable trade asset, given his ability to score, especially in Tatum’s absence. Potential destinations for Brown include the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs, both of whom could offer attractive trade packages.
Regarding Holiday, teams vying for an NBA title may be interested, such as the Dallas Mavericks, though the team’s plans could hinge on Kyrie Irving’s decisions this offseason.
Lastly, there’s speculation around trading Porzingis, who will soon be a free agent and could provide significant benefits to teams like the Golden State Warriors or Orlando Magic, both seeking extra power in their post-game.
