Defender Antonee Robinson is missing from the United States Men’s National Team roster for the upcoming Concacaf Gold Cup due to knee surgery. His club, Fulham, confirmed that he successfully underwent a “minor” operation on his right knee and will begin rehabilitation immediately.
Robinson is expected to make a return to action by the start of the 2025-26 Premier League season. The 27-year-old has become a key player for the USMNT in recent years after joining Fulham in 2020, making his absence from the Gold Cup roster a surprising development.
Many key players, including Robinson and Christian Pulisic, are not participating in the Gold Cup following a demanding season in Europe. Despite playing through undisclosed knee pain during the 2024-25 season, Robinson managed to appear in 38 matches, contributing significantly with 10 assists, the highest among defenders.
Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino commented on the importance of managing players’ health ahead of the World Cup, stating:
“Many people can say it’s really important for us to be all together for the last time before the World Cup, we decided the best for him, the best of the team, the best for the national team is the decision that we made.”
The USMNT will begin training for the Gold Cup on June 1 and will face a couple of friendly matches before kicking off their group matches on June 15.
