Injury Troubles Continue for Fever as Colson and Cunningham Exit Before Loss to Winless Sun
The Indiana Fever faced more challenges as two key players left the game against the Connecticut Sun, worsening their injury situation.
The Indiana Fever’s injury woes continued Friday when Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham both left their 85-83 loss to the Connecticut Sun—who entered the game as the lone winless team in the league—with injuries.
Colson had been inserted into the starting lineup for Caitlin Clark but left the game after suffering a leg injury in the first quarter. Cunningham took Colson’s place, only to roll her ankle in the fourth quarter and did not return.
Head coach Stephanie White did not provide updates on either player’s timelines for recovery, leaving the team in a precarious position as they look to improve their record of 2-4.
Colson’s first-quarter injury was described as a ‘gut punch’ to the team, severely impacting their performance, while Cunningham’s injury during a screen left her in visible pain on the floor. The Fever are currently 0-2 without Clark, who is sidelined with a quad injury, and face the possibility of a tougher upcoming schedule if Colson and Cunningham cannot return by June 10 against the Atlanta Dream.
