Indiana Fever Signs Aari McDonald Amid Injury Crisis

The Indiana Fever has signed former lottery pick Aari McDonald through an emergency hardship exception as they face player injuries.

The injury-stricken Indiana Fever has secured Aari McDonald, former number 3 overall in the 2021 WNBA Draft, under an emergency hardship exception. This signing comes after a series of injuries to key players on the team, including Caitlin Clark, who suffered a left quad injury, and both Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham with leg and ankle injuries, respectively.

McDonald expressed her excitement, saying, “I was very anxious…but when I got the call, I was very excited, very blessed and humbled to join a team like the Fever.” She emphasized her readiness to contribute and help the team win.

Despite their rocky start this season, losing three consecutive games and struggling to maintain a full roster, the Fever are looking to McDonald to provide a boost as they face the Washington Mystics next.

Coach Stephanie White noted that McDonald has consistently impressed in practice, showcasing her defensive skills, and is expected to enhance the team’s overall performance.
