Florida baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan erupted in a profanity-laden outburst directed at site representatives at the NCAA Tournament’s Conway Regional after officials delayed the Gators’ elimination game against East Carolina by an hour. This prompted strong criticism from Coastal Carolina coach Kevin Schnall, who labeled O’Sullivan a “bully” for his angry remarks aimed at the NCAA site’s administrators.
The match’s timing was adjusted due to East Carolina’s previous late-night game that extended until around midnight, shifting the originally scheduled 12 p.m. start time to 1 p.m. Schnall expressed his concerns, stating that O’Sullivan disrespected the Coastal Carolina staff, including the associate athletic director and the field crew, and emphasized the importance of proper conduct from coaches, remarking that it was unacceptable for someone of O’Sullivan’s stature to behave in this manner.
O’Sullivan later issued an apology, admitting that he “let his emotions get the best of him” prior to the game and acknowledged that his actions were not reflective of the standards expected from the University of Florida. The Gators’ loss to East Carolina marked a disappointing end to their postseason, as they exited the tournament after only two games.
