Fever Triumph Over Mystics: A Step Forward After Clark's Injury

The Indiana Fever achieved their first victory since the injury of star player Caitlin Clark, thanks to Kelsey Mitchell's standout performance.

The Indiana Fever celebrated their first win since the injury of star guard Caitlin Clark, defeating the Washington Mystics 85-76 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday. This victory marks a significant turnaround after a series of losses.

The Fever were without Caitlin Clark, sidelined since Memorial Day due to a quad strain.

After a tight first half, the Fever dominated the third quarter, establishing a 16-point lead. Despite a late rally from the Mystics, led by Brittney Sykes, the Fever managed to secure the win.

Now 3-4 on the season, the Fever will face the Chicago Sky next on Saturday, airing at 8 p.m. ET.

Key Highlights:

McDonald’s Quick Impact

Due to injuries, including that of Clark, Aari McDonald was signed to the team under an emergency hardship exception. Shortly into the game, McDonald made a notable impression with seven points, five assists, and three steals while maintaining zero turnovers in 27 minutes.

Mitchell Steps Up

Kelsey Mitchell emerged as the standout performer, scoring 24 points and providing three assists, with several crucial baskets in the final quarter, sealing the win for the Fever. Previously scrutinized during Clark’s absence, her performance showcased her potential as a leading player.
