Zach Edey of the Grizzlies Undergoes Ankle Surgery, Possible Delay for 2025-26 Season
Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey is expected to miss the start of the upcoming season after undergoing ankle surgery due to a recurring injury.
The Memphis Grizzlies center, Zach Edey, has suffered a sprained left ankle once again, prompting the team to announce on Saturday that he will need surgery.
Edey, standing at 7-foot-3, sustained the injury while working out earlier this week. Imaging tests showed significant ligament laxity, which requires surgical intervention to stabilize his ankle.
Previously, Edey, a two-time National Player of the Year from Purdue, missed 12 games earlier in the season due to a similar ankle injury. He played 66 games in total, starting 55, with an average of 9.2 points and leading all rookies with 8.3 rebounds.
The Grizzlies mentioned that they will provide a preliminary recovery timeline post-surgery, and Edey is expected to make a complete recovery.
