Phil Mickelson, known for his exceptional short game, proved he still has it during the LIV Golf Virginia event held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. At 54 years old, Mickelson performed a stunning flop shot for a birdie after his ball was lodged in the rough above a bunker.
After missing the green left, most amateur golfers would aim for a straightforward approach to save par. However, Mickelson seized the chance to show off one of his signature trick shots. He planted his feet in the sand, opened the lob wedge wide, and swung with precision, pulling off an incredible shot that wowed the audience.
Phil Mickelson. Unbelievable.

Executing such a difficult shot during a high-pressure tournament showcases Mickelson’s extraordinary skill. The successful hole-out not only thrilled the crowd but also put him at 13 under for the tournament, finishing tied for 4th with Bryson DeChambeau, Thomas Pieters, and Bubba Watson, all behind Joaquin Niemann, who continues to shine this LIV Golf season.
Despite being past his prime, Mickelson demonstrates that age does not limit his incredible abilities, especially with a wedge in hand.
Next week, Mickelson might be facing his final U.S. Open, aiming for the career grand slam as he heads to Oakmont.
