Washington Secures Prominent College Basketball Transfer Desmond Claude

Desmond Claude, a highly sought-after point guard formerly from USC, commits to Washington, bolstering their recruiting efforts.

Former USC point guard Desmond Claude, recognized as one of the top talents in the college basketball transfer portal, has officially joined the Washington Huskies. This move was confirmed by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. Claude was the last uncommitted player out of the top 150 and now adds to a noteworthy Washington transfer class that features six highly-rated recruits.

Claude, who captured attention when he entered the portal on April 22, had narrowed his choices to Alabama, Washington, and Gonzaga before opting for the Huskies. He is ranked as the ninth best point guard and sits as the 31st overall player in the 2025 transfer cycle.

This is Claude’s second transfer within a year, having previously moved from Xavier, where he earned the Big East’s Most Improved Player title during his sophomore year, before securing a spot at USC and earning an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention.

During his tenure at USC, he led the team with an impressive average of 15.8 points per game and achieved two games exceeding 30 points, including a standout performance against Washington where he registered 25 points and a career-high 11 assists. With Danny Sprinkle now at the helm, Washington is excited about their recruiting momentum as they recover from losing seven players to the portal, successfully bringing in an equal number of four-star prospects.
