Veteran free agent running back Nick Chubb has officially joined the Houston Texans after successfully completing a team physical, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Chubb, regarded as one of the best players available, has signed a one-year contract with the Texans worth between $2.5 million and $5 million, marking his transition from the Cleveland Browns.
Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler, joins Texans’ starting running back Joe Mixon, adding much-needed depth to a backfield that faced challenges during the previous season. The Browns’ recent acquisitions of running backs Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson pushed Chubb out of the equation in Cleveland, making this new opportunity vital for his career as he seeks playing time in Houston.
While Chubb’s statistics dipped last season following previous injuries, he remains a formidable running back with potential for over 1,500 yards, demonstrated by his impressive record in earlier seasons.
Having previously undergone multiple knee surgeries, Chubb is set on showcasing his capabilities once more for the Texans, who hope his experience translates into strong performances this upcoming season.
