Louisville Hires Vince Marrow from Rival Kentucky as New GM

Vince Marrow, a key figure in Kentucky's football success, is set to join Louisville, marking a significant shift in the college football landscape.

Louisville has made a strategic move by hiring Vince Marrow, the associate head coach from Kentucky, to be their new general manager for football, as confirmed by CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer. Marrow has been a pivotal coach at Kentucky since the tenure of Mark Stoops began in 2013 and is highly regarded for his recruiting skills.

Under Marrow’s guidance as recruiting coordinator, Kentucky achieved top-tier recruiting classes over the years and produced several NFL Draft picks.

His relationship with Stoops goes back to their time as high school teammates in Youngstown, Ohio. Over his career, Marrow has been pursued by many notable programs, including Michigan State and North Carolina but remained loyal to Kentucky until now. He joins Louisville during a transformative period in college athletics marked by an increase in revenue-sharing.

Marrow’s contract with Kentucky was reportedly worth $1.3 million, and he may surpass this figure with performance incentives at Louisville. Louisville has been revitalized under Jeff Brohm, who has led the team to success recently, including an impressive record and participation in the ACC Championship Game.

As Marrow takes on this essential role, his experience is expected to be a valuable asset for the Louisville program as well as a substantial loss for Kentucky as they navigate a challenging season ahead.
