Jay-Z Loses $1 Million Bet After Pacers Beat Thunder in Game 3

Despite trailing in the series, the Thunder remain favorites, but a major bet placed by Jay-Z leads to a significant loss.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are still in contention for the NBA Finals, yet not all bets are paying off for Jay-Z. The rapper had placed a $1 million wager on the Thunder to triumph in the series against the Indiana Pacers.

Before this series commenced, Jay-Z put his money on the Thunder to clinch victory in five games at +230 odds through Fanatics Sportsbook. A win would have netted him a cool $3.3 million, but after the Pacers secured a 116-107 victory in Game 3, his bet has officially fallen flat.

Despite his considerable wealth of $2.5 billion, the loss of such a significant sum likely isn’t sitting well with him, especially with the media spotlight on the situation.

Even with the setback, previews had favored the Thunder, who bounced back to win Game 2 after losing Game 1. Coming into the game on Wednesday, the Thunder had a lead; however, they stumbled in the fourth quarter, resulting in a disappointing loss after a promising start.

Key to Indiana’s victory was their bench strength, outscoring the Thunder’s substitutes 49-18 and creating 17 turnovers, including crucial plays against league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

With now a 2-1 series deficit, the Thunder, who led the regular season with 68 wins, still remain the favorites to secure the championship title.
