Cam Ward, the quarterback for the Tennessee Titans, is gearing up for his first NFL minicamp and learning the team’s offensive strategies. As he prepares for training camp next month, he has a straightforward plan: “Just work out, stay in the playbook, and throw the f— out of the ball,” as Ward stated on Thursday, according to the Titans’ official website.
Ward, who was the first overall pick in April’s draft, successfully completed 42 out of 58 passes during drills in three minicamp workouts. Impressively, he managed to throw 21 consecutive passes over two days.
Despite facing some challenges, including interceptions from linebacker Cody Barton and cornerback Davion Ross, Ward remains optimistic about his growth ahead of his inaugural professional season.
“I am growing, learning, especially being with the vets, getting our timing down,” he said.
“At the end of the day, I’m a gunslinger,” Ward continued. “I live by that, and I’ll always die by that. Coach [Brian] Callahan knows the type of guy he has in the quarterback room in me, and I’m just thankful I have guys around me to help me out.”
With a prolific college career behind him, where he threw for 18,137 yards and 158 touchdowns across five seasons at various universities, Ward will compete for the starting position against former second-round pick Will Levis.
