The series showcased elite play from O’Neal, scoring 43 and 40 points in the first two games, respectively, leading to the Lakers’ victories. The Pacers struck back, claiming Game 3 and its first Finals win. In Game 4, however, tensions simmered as the lead changed hands repeatedly.

After a back-and-forth struggle, the game went into overtime. With just under 40 seconds remaining, the Lakers led by one point when O’Neal was disqualified after six fouls, pressuring Bryant to step up. He delivered, scoring key shots and securing a crucial rebound that led to a Lakers victory.

Bryant finished the game with 28 points, assisting in the Lakers’ momentous 120-117 win.
