Key Insights from Recent Performances
It was clear from the first inning that Spencer Strider was in for a better afternoon Saturday. After his fastball sat at 95-96 mph through his first five turns back from elbow surgery, it was suddenly hitting 97-98, signaling a return to the form that made him a standout in previous seasons. Strider struck out 13 batters over six scoreless innings, showcasing dominant pitching.

Determining how many of those strikeouts were due to facing a struggling Rockies lineup is a point of discussion, especially since Grant Holmes had a similar performance against them. However, Strider’s performance would still have been impressive, even without the strikeout tally. His previous struggles with velocity now seem to be behind him.
