In an unusual incident, referee Cesar Arturo Ramos mistakenly brandished a prayer card instead of a red card while officiating a match between Boca Juniors and Benfica.

The game featured three red cards and a memorable moment when the referee accidentally displayed a prayer card instead of a red card after Nicolas Figal fouled Florentino Luís. Despite the blunder, the incident gained viral attention, particularly due to its uniqueness.

In the 88th minute, after Figal’s foul, referee Cesar Arturo Ramos quickly pulled out a card that appeared to show the Virgin of Guadalupe alongside the red card. He promptly stashed it away, resulting in an amusing moment captured on camera.

Boca Juniors are grouped with Bayern Munich and Auckland City FC in Group C, competing next against Bayern on Friday at Miami Gardens.’s Hard Rock Stadium. Benfica will also clash with Auckland earlier that same day.
