Ace Bailey Cancels Pre-Draft Workout with 76ers Amid Uncertainty Ahead of NBA Draft

Ace Bailey, a projected lottery pick, has canceled his scheduled workout with the 76ers, raising concerns about his draft stock.

Former Rutgers standout and projected 2025 NBA Draft lottery pick Ace Bailey has canceled his workout with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. Philadelphia, which holds the No. 3 pick, has not ruled out selecting Bailey despite this development.

This continues what has been a strange pre-draft process for Bailey, who still has not worked out for an NBA team. He is the only U.S.-based prospect to skip all workouts, which could lead to a draft-day slide.

“Sources say Bailey’s camp has informed interested teams that they believe he is a top-3 player in the draft, but also seek a clear pathway to stardom, hoping to find a situation with ample minutes and usage to maximize his chances of reaching his full potential,” Givony wrote.

Despite being No. 4 on CBS Sports’ Top 100 Prospect Rankings, he remains a betting favorite (-210) for a top-five selection according to FanDuel Sportsbook; however, his odds dropped from -250 just before Givony’s latest report. Bailey is now the second-favorite (+480) to go third overall behind Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe (-230).

While Bailey was set to meet with the 76ers for a workout and dinner, he canceled these plans just a day before.

The 76ers, coming off a disappointing 24-58 season marred by injuries, have hope in a solid core featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, and first-round pick Jared McCain, who was performing well before his season-ending injury.
