Broadcaster Dick Vitale Set to Return After Cancer Struggles
Dick Vitale will make a significant return to broadcasting during the Duke vs. Clemson college basketball game after a long battle with cancer.
Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Vitale will make his anticipated return to TV on Saturday for the first time since 2023 from Clemson, South Carolina, to call the Tigers’ home game as they welcome No. 2 Duke to town. Vitale has been on a nearly two-year hiatus from television due to his battle with four types of cancer over the last four years.
He was initially scheduled to return last month but suffered an accident at home that delayed his comeback further.
The Duke-Clemson match is set to tip at 6 p.m. ET, with the Blue Devils potentially entering on a 16-game winning streak.
Vitale announced on January 8 that he is cancer-free after undergoing numerous treatments and surgeries. His most recent surgery was in the summer of 2024.
