Florida Panthers Celebrate Their Second Consecutive Stanley Cup Title

The Stanley Cup sustains damage during the Florida Panthers' jubilant celebration after winning back-to-back championships.

The Stanley Cup has seen better days after the Florida Panthers celebrated winning back-to-back titles. The beloved trophy now has a cracked bowl and a dented base, a sign of the wild celebrations that took place on their home turf following the team’s victory over the Edmonton Oilers in six games.

As per tradition, the players celebrated late into Wednesday, soaking in the moment of their second consecutive championship.

A representative from the Hockey Hall of Fame stated that they would fix the trophy in time for the celebration parade scheduled for Sunday. The Cup, made from silver and a nickel alloy, weighs 37 pounds and is known for being quite malleable.

Damage like this is not uncommon for the Stanley Cup, which has been mishandled numerous times over its 131-year history. Just in this decade, the Tampa Bay Lightning dropped it during their boat parade in 2021, and it was dented by the Colorado Avalanche on the night they secured their victory the following year.
