Kevin Durant Denies Locker Room Fistfight Claims Amid Suns' Disappointing Season

Kevin Durant refutes DeMarcus Cousins' allegations regarding locker room tensions and fistfights during the Suns' challenging season.

The Phoenix Suns faced a season filled with challenges, finishing with a 36-46 record that led them to miss the NBA playoffs. Allegations from former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins claimed that there were multiple fistfights in the locker room due to rising tensions. However, Kevin Durant strongly denied these accusations, asserting no such incidents took place.

Durant was part of a star-studded lineup that included other veterans like Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, together making up one of the priciest rosters in NBA history, costing $220 million in salaries with an additional luxury tax bill exceeding $150 million. Despite the high expectations, the season turned out to be one of the most disappointing in recent NBA history.

“I have to contest this 94 footer,” Durant said on social media. “This some bullshit to throw on us. Yea yea yea we were trash this year ha ha ha but we NEVER got close to this. NEVER.”

Cousins remarked, “It was a lot of things that happened. There was a couple of fistfights. There was a lot going on that obviously carries over to the court,” indicating an environment fraught with discord.

Another significant factor was the firing of coach Mike Budenholzer following the end of the season, leading the franchise to look into potential trades, including for Durant himself, who has expressed preferences for his next team.
