Kevin Durant Acquires Minority Stake in Paris Saint-Germain

NBA star Kevin Durant has invested in the renowned soccer team Paris Saint-Germain, entering into a partnership that promises growth and new ventures.

NBA star Kevin Durant has acquired a minority stake in the Champions League winning team, Paris Saint-Germain, as announced on Friday. According to the club, Qatar Sports Investments, the primary stakeholder, has formed a strategic agreement with Durant. The financial specifics of this deal remain undisclosed.

This partnership arrives during discussions involving the NBA, FIBA, and other organizations regarding the possibility of establishing a new European league. Durant is expected to lend his expertise on PSG’s multi-port strategy and possible basketball expansions.

“Under the terms of the partnership, Durant — through his media and investment firm Boardroom, which he co-founded with long-time collaborator Rich Kleiman — will obtain a direct minor share in the club,” stated PSG.

The forward for the Phoenix Suns is both a two-time NBA champion and the first four-time men’s Olympic gold medalist in basketball history, achieved during the previous summer’s Paris Games. This represents Durant’s second foray into soccer; he also holds a minority stake in the Philadelphia Union.

“It is an honor to partner with QSI and become a shareholder in Paris Saint-Germain — a club and city that is very dear to me,” remarked the 36-year-old Durant. “This club has ambitious plans, and I am eager to be part of its next growth phase and explore new investment avenues with QSI.”

As part of this arrangement, Boardroom Sports Holdings — Durant’s investment group that has stakes in numerous major sports teams and leagues — and QSI will collaborate on a broad spectrum of commercial, investment, and content production endeavors.

PSG highlighted that Durant will aid the club in diversifying and expanding its reach, particularly in the U.S. and other global markets.

“Alongside Kevin, we are excited to develop ambitious initiatives that will propel the continued global growth of Paris Saint-Germain and QSI,” said PSG’s president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.
