Rafael Devers Hits a Dry Spell in First Game Against Red Sox Post-Trade

San Francisco Giants' Rafael Devers struggled to make his mark in a game against the Red Sox, marking his first outing after a notable trade.

Rafael Devers, the standout from the San Francisco Giants, faced a challenging return against his former team, the Boston Red Sox, going hitless in his debut match since the highly publicized trade that occurred just days earlier.

In the game, which ended with a score of 7-5 in favor of the Red Sox, Devers had a less than stellar performance, going 0 for 5 at bat. He recorded two ground outs, two fly outs (one of which was a near hit with a projected average of .370), and rounded off with a strikeout in the ninth inning. Devers’ performance leaves him at 3 for 16 across four games since joining the Giants following his trade from Boston.

Prior to the game, Devers expressed mixed feelings about his transition, stating, “It’s been a long time. Yes, I feel happy. I feel relaxed now.” He reflected on his past with Boston amid inquiries about his shift to the Giants.

The series between the Red Sox and Giants will continue with games scheduled until Sunday, allowing Devers additional chances to find his rhythm.
