Angels Manager Ron Washington Takes Indefinite Leave for Health Reasons

Los Angeles Angels' manager heads to an indefinite leave due to health concerns, with bench coach Ray Montgomery stepping in to manage the team.

Los Angeles Angels’ manager Ron Washington will be on an indefinite leave due to a health concern, as reported by Sam Blum of The Athletic. Starting tonight’s match against the Houston Astros, bench coach Ray Montgomery will take over the managerial duties.

Despite his issues, Washington is expected to be present, watching from a suite next to general manager Perry Minasian. In over a season managing the team, he has maintained a winning percentage of 41.9%. Surprisingly, the Angels have managed to win almost half of their matches, despite a run differential of -60, which places them alongside teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates.

At 73 years old, Washington is in his tenth season of managing, having previously led the Texas Rangers to two American League pennants.
