After a lengthy period leading up to a proposed superfight against interim champion Tom Aspinall that never materialized due to ongoing discussions and issues surrounding Jones’ heavyweight title, the 37-year-old fighter confirmed his retirement to UFC officials.

UFC President Dana White disclosed this information during a press conference following UFC Fight Night in Baku, Azerbaijan. White stated, “Jon Jones called us last night and retired. Jon Jones is officially retired. Tom Aspinall is the heavyweight champion of the UFC.”
