Kevin Durant Joins Rockets in Major Trade as Jalen Green Leads Suns' Return

The Houston Rockets have acquired Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns, marking a significant turn in the NBA landscape as the Rockets prepare for a championship run.

The Houston Rockets are set to acquire Kevin Durant, as confirmed by CBS News. The transaction will send Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, a No. 10 draft pick, and five second-round picks to the Phoenix Suns. This deal marks a significant moment for Durant, who is entering his 18th season and will be playing for his fifth NBA team, having previously been with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, and the Suns.

The Suns traded for Durant at the 2023 deadline but struggled to establish itself as a contender, failing to progress past the second round and missing the playoffs entirely this season. Following rumors regarding Durant’s availability, it became clear that both sides were eager for a change.

Durant expressed concerns over moving teams mid-season, stating, “Me going into your team in the middle of the season it’s going to be a big blow to any team I’m going to,” suggesting that he preferred to finish the season in Phoenix. He ultimately was traded just hours before the final match of the season.

In a statement after the trade rumors surfaced, Durant shared, “I want my career to end on my terms. That’s the only thing.” Ultimately, the Rockets presented the best opportunity for his future, and now Durant aims to help Houston make a title run.
