The Oklahoma City Thunder have secured their first championship title in the city, defeating the Indiana Pacers 103-91 in a tense Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who was voted the Most Valuable Player of the regular season, also earned the Finals MVP award.

This victory marks a monumental occasion for the franchise since its transition from Seattle to Oklahoma City back in 2008. The Pacers, a formidable opponent, fell short, remaining without an NBA championship in their history. Unfortunately, their star guard, Tyrese Haliburton, suffered an Achilles injury in the early moments of the game, hampering Indiana’s offensive capabilities.

The Thunder, who held the top seed in the playoffs with a remarkable 68-win season, overcame the likes of the Grizzlies, Nuggets, and Timberwolves to reach the Finals. Meanwhile, the Pacers advanced to the Finals for the first time since 2000 after defeating the Bucks, Cavaliers, and Knicks.
