Chase Briscoe Triumphs at Pocono: First Victory with Joe Gibbs Racing
Chase Briscoe clinched his maiden win with Joe Gibbs Racing at Pocono, overcoming a pit road error during the race.
Chase Briscoe achieved his first victory as a driver for Joe Gibbs Racing at Pocono Raceway during the Great American Getaway 400. Despite leaving his pit stall before his car was completely filled with fuel, Briscoe managed to save enough gas to outpace his competitors, including Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney.
After taking control of the race post a well-timed caution, Briscoe faced a major setback when he departed the pit lane prematurely due to a miscommunication with crew chief James Small, which left him low on fuel initially. However, his strategic fuel-saving efforts secured his win and marked his third Cup victory overall.
Briscoe remarked on the difficulty of the race, especially with legendary competitors chasing him, and expressed his gratitude to Joe Gibbs Racing for the opportunity. “An amazing day for our race team!” he said to Prime. “To get Toyota in Victory Lane, Joe Gibbs Racing – they took a big chance on me.”
Results of the race included:
- Chase Briscoe (#19)
- Denny Hamlin (#11)
- Ryan Blaney (#12)
- Chris Buescher (#17)
- Chase Elliott (#9)
- John Hunter Nemechek (#42)
- Kyle Larson (#5)
- Ryan Preece (#60)
- Brad Keselowski (#6)
- Austin Cindric (#2)
Briscoe now aims for further success in the upcoming NASCAR In-Season Challenge, starting at EchoPark Speedway.
