The Indianapolis Colts recently received positive updates regarding their quarterback, Anthony Richardson, who stated he anticipates being ready for training camp. Richardson is currently managing a shoulder injury that kept him out of the minicamp.
“I’m all good … not really even a bump in the road,” Richardson said. “Not really even a bump in the road. I feel like I tripped, I fell. Just got back up and hit the ground running again.”
Training camp for the Colts is set to kick off on July 22. Colts head coach Shane Steichen previously shared limited information about Richardson’s return but mentioned he hopes Richardson could join the team during the training camp period.
Injuries have marked Richardson’s career since entering the NFL. He participated in only four games his rookie year and played 11 in the last season. His third year will be significant as he attempts to meet the expectations that come with being a first-round draft pick.
Due to Richardson’s absence, the team has brought in fellow former first-rounder Daniel Jones via free agency, allowing Jones to take some first-team reps.
The competition for quarterback will persist through training camp, and Richardson appears set to return as an active participant following this short-term setback.
