2025 NBA Draft Sleepers: Five Under-the-Radar Prospects to Watch
Explore five underrated prospects whose draft positions are expected to see significant increases, especially Drake Powell from North Carolina.
The 2025 NBA Draft is just around the corner, and as usual, there are a few players whose draft projections may not fully showcase their potential. These players often exceed expectations once they land on an NBA team. Here are five prospects I believe could provide more value than their projected draft spots suggest.
1. Cedric Coward | SG | Washington State
Coward has transformed his status from a potential second-round pick to a likely first-rounder after impressive performances during the pre-draft process, including a standout showing at the NBA Draft Combine. His 6-foot-5 frame, coupled with a 7-2 wingspan and a 39% three-point shooting percentage, positions him as a promising 3-and-D option with room for growth.
2. Drake Powell | SF | North Carolina
Once considered a top-10 pick and a five-star recruit, Powell experienced a challenging season but remains a talented player. With strong stats in catch-and-shoot situations and remarkable defensive energy, he is expected to surprise many by being picked in the 20s.
3. Rasheer Fleming | PF | Saint Joseph’s
Standing at 6-8 with a wingspan of 7-5, Fleming has demonstrated his potential through exceptional performances in the Atlantic 10 leagues, particularly with a career-high shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
4. Ryan Kalkbrenner | C | Creighton
Despite being a 7-1 center seemingly flying under the radar, Kalkbrenner is a four-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year who has steadily improved as a scorer, making him a valuable asset in any rotation.
5. Alijah Martin | SG | Florida
Martin had a stellar season at Florida, contributing significantly to the team’s national title run, and possesses a proven ability to knock down shots, averaging 12.5 points per game. His athleticism and cohesive skill set make him a potential steal in the second round.
