Chandler Jones, a celebrated figure in San Jose State football history, tragically passed away in a car accident. The team made the announcement on Monday, revealing that Jones, who was just 33 years old, died in Los Angeles following a collision involving a Toyota RAV4.
The incident reportedly occurred around 2 a.m. on the Marina Freeway. Despite the emergency response, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jones left a significant mark on the program, holding records for both receptions (248) and receiving touchdowns (31) during his tenure as a wide receiver from 2010 to 2013. He spent time as a graduate assistant coach at the university before his involvement in professional football in the NFL and CFL. Jones excelled on the field after a standout collegiate career, culminating in a season where he amassed 1,356 yards and 15 touchdowns.
