The Boston Celtics have traded Kristaps Porziņģis to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a significant three-team deal involving the Brooklyn Nets.
The Boston Celtics are trading Kristaps Porziņģis to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Atlanta will receive Porziņģis and a second-round pick, while the Celtics will acquire forward Georges Niang and a second-round pick.
The Nets, who facilitated the deal, will gain forward Terance Mann and the No. 22 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. With this, the Nets now possess five first-round picks: Nos. 8, 19, 22, 26, and 27, along with the 37th pick in the second round.
This move comes less than a day after the Celtics traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks, aiming to manage their finances better.
Porziņģis had an impressive season with averages of 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. Acquired by the Celtics in the previous offseason, he was vital in their playoff run.
What’s next for Boston?
The Celtics are likely facing a challenging season ahead without star forward Jayson Tatum due to an injury, raising questions about further trades, particularly regarding Jaylen Brown, who has attracted significant interest.
Porziņģis’ integration into Atlanta’s roster will be intriguing as they consider their starting lineup amidst significant changes in the offseason.
