Celtics Finalize Trade Agreement with Hawks for Kristaps Porzingis

The Boston Celtics have traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team trade deal, making significant roster adjustments.

The Boston Celtics have reportedly engaged in a trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a three-team deal. The deal sees the Hawks sending Terance Mann and the No. 22 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft to the Brooklyn Nets, while the Celtics receive Georges Niang.

Porzingis marks the second player the Celtics have traded in a short span as they look to shed substantial contracts to evade a steep luxury tax. Despite being a significant contributor to the Celtics’ success over his two seasons, he struggled with injuries during playoff runs.

When he is at his best, Porzingis provides the Hawks with essential defensive presence and shooting ability, averaging 19.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks in his nine years in the NBA, along with a 36.6% shooting from three-point range.

In return for Porzingis, the Celtics add veteran shooter Niang. The transaction also enables the Nets to acquire a robust wing in Mann plus draft assets to balance the contracts.
