Celtics Trade Rumors: Boston Considering Offers for Jaylen Brown and Derrick White

Boston's offseason moves may continue as the Celtics evaluate trade opportunities for superstars Jaylen Brown and Derrick White.

The Boston Celtics remain quite engaged in managing their roster as the NBA Draft approaches, following significant trades of Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers and Kristaps Porziņģis to the Atlanta Hawks. Superstars Jaylen Brown and Derrick White are now potential trade targets, with growing interest from other teams, as reported by NBA insider Shams Charania. Brown’s past contract extension, amounting to a record $304 million supermax in 2023, further complicates Boston’s decision-making process.

Charania mentioned, “It means them phone lines are ringing in Boston. My understanding is the Celtics are getting offers and calls on both Jaylen Brown and Derrick White. The Celtics have high-price thresholds on both players. We know how great Brown and White are. I’m sure they’re receiving substantial offers, but their preference has been to retain both players. However, the team is still subject to the luxury tax implications and the uncertainty regarding Jayson Tatum’s status next season.”

The Celtics shed $180 million in luxury tax liabilities this week and are now under the second tax apron. For the draft, Boston holds the 28th pick overall, along with an additional selection in the second round, which they will use to reinforce wing and guard positions.
