Arsenal Pursues Christian Norgaard with $12.8 Million Bid to Outpace Tottenham

Arsenal aims to secure Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard with a substantial offer amidst uncertainty over Thomas Partey's future.

Arsenal is making a strong push to surpass Tottenham in securing Christian Norgaard, having reportedly placed a bid of $12.8 million for the Brentford midfielder.

Norgaard, aged 31, emerges as a viable alternative as Arsenal faces uncertainties over Thomas Partey’s contract situation, which is set to expire soon without a renewal on the horizon. The Gunners are reportedly asking Partey to lower his salary amid these negotiations, according to sources from CBS Sports.

Furthermore, Arsenal plans to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad as their primary defensive midfield option next season. If Partey departs, an additional midfield signing, like Norgaard, may become essential. Arsenal scouted Norgaard extensively last season during a time when it seemed Brentford might extend his contract for another year.

Although Norgaard extended his contract for two additional years, the prospect of competing in European tournaments like the Champions League and Premier League could entice him to North London. A move for Norgaard would provide a reliable option behind Zubimendi, for whom Arsenal is reportedly prepared to pay over his $61.4 million buyout clause to manage the transfer costs effectively.
