Top Tight End Ian Premer Commits to Notre Dame, Boosting Fighting Irish to No. 2 Spot for 2026

Ian Premer, the third-ranked tight end, has announced his commitment to Notre Dame, elevating the Fighting Irish's recruiting class for 2026 to the second spot.

Another top 50 player has chosen his new home. Tight end Ian Premer, ranked third in his position, has committed to Notre Dame, with the announcement made on Thursday.

At 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds from Great Bend, Kansas, Premer ranks 43rd overall in the Class of 2026 according to 247 Sports.

By selecting Notre Dame over Iowa State, Kansas, and Kansas State, Premer transitions from Great Bend to South Bend. This commitment elevates the Fighting Irish to the second-best recruiting class nationwide, totaling 22 commits with six vocal commitments within this week for 2026.

Premer’s official visit to Notre Dame took place on June 20. He plays at Great Bend High School, where his coach, Eric Beck, praises his bright future in college football.

“His spatial awareness is unmatched,” Beck stated. “At 6-6 and 230 pounds, his jumping ability is incredible, making him quite a standout.”

Last season, Premer recorded 30 receptions for 541 yards and eight touchdowns over ten games and also rushed for two touchdowns totaling 260 yards on 37 carries. Beck further highlighted his exceptional character off the field, saying:

“He is the best kid anyone could hope to coach. Academically, he is top of the class, involved in our gifted program. His future is limitless.”

Earlier this week, another tight end, Preston Fryzel, committed to Notre Dame as well.
