Cristiano Ronaldo Prioritizes World Cup Readiness Over Club Offers

Cristiano Ronaldo opts to focus on preparation for a record sixth World Cup rather than participating in the Club World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo has made it clear that he values being well-prepared for a potential sixth participation in the World Cup over pursuing opportunities in the Club World Cup. He stated:

“I had some offers to play (Club) World Cup but I think it didn’t make sense because I prefer to have a good rest, a good preparation, because this season will be very long… So I want to be ready not only for Al Nassr but also for the national team.”

Recently, at 40 years old, Ronaldo helped the Portugal team clinch a victory in the Nations League against Spain, yet rumors circulated regarding a possible transfer to partake in the ongoing Club World Cup hosted in the United States. With the upcoming World Cup co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, Ronaldo and his rival Messi may also become the first athletes to compete in six World Cups next year.

Moreover, he remains the first male athlete to score in five different World Cups. The player’s recent contract extension with Al Nassr ensures he’ll continue playing until at least the age of 42.
